Advice for Dealing with Cold Snap

Try to remain indoors this weekend during the bitter cold. But if you have to be outside working or involved in activities be sure to have all exposed skin covered.

That is advice from the assistant director of emergency management for Geary County, Curt Janke. He noted make sure “somebody knows where you’re at and what you’re doing so somebody can at least keep an eye on you.” Also, check on the elderly.

Wind chills are expected to dip below zero this weekend.

If you traveling during winter weather carry supplies in your vehicle. Janke suggested spare clothes, “In case something happened that you would get wet or if you get cold you can always add more clothes. Some kind of food source, jerky, granola bars, that type of thing, water not pop or anything like that, just plain water. And of course gloves and hats. The other thing is you want to make sure that your vehicle is checked over good so that you know that you are going to be able to get where you’re going.”
