The Chapman Irish girls basketball team claimed the championship of the Irish Classic on Saturday. Chapman defeated Sacred Heart 48-42.
Kylie Adams scored 10 points while Brianna Loy and McKenna Kirkpatrick each added 10 for Chapman. The Irish jumped in front by 11 points at the end of the first quarter, and never trailed in the ballgame.
McKenna Kirkpatrick of Chapman was named tournament MVP, while her teammates Bee Loy and Peyton Suther were named to the All-Tournament team. The other members of the All-Tournament squad included Caila Hill and Maura Buhler of Rossville, Hailey Eaton of El Dorado, and Ally Cochran and Hannah Goetz of Sacred Heart.
In the boys championship Chapman lost to Sacred Heart 58-42. Talor Warner led the Irish with 10 points while Izek Jackson scored 9.
The Irish Classic boys All-Tournament team included Talor Warner and Izek Jackson of Chapman, MVP Charlie Skidmore of Sacred Heart plus Caleb Jordan and Grant Herrenbruck of Sacred Heart, Jarin Koehler and Cameron Clausing of El Dorado, and Sheldon Hurlbert of Rossville.
