The Salina Central Mustangs ( 2-0 )outscored the Junction City Blue Jays 14-3 in the second quarter with the only Blue Jay points coming on a 3-point basket by Kody Westerhaus with about 1:40 remaining in the first half.
End result….Salina Central rolled on to a 55-33 victory over Junction City.
Blue Jay coach Nick Perez thought his team played great defensively in the first half but in the second half there were problems. “We just started jacking shots. We’re not going to win any games doing that. When the ball sticks in your hands it just doesn’t happen, and that’s on me as a head coach. I’ve got to get our offense flowing.
The Blue Jays ( 1-1 ) were led in scoring by A.J. Dickerson with 11 points.

The Junction City Lady Jays fell to Salina Central 66-38.
Salina Central ( 2-0 ) jumped out to a 16-6 lead and never trailed from that point on.
Post player Elisa Backes scored 28 points while the Lady Jays got 16 from Alana Kramer and 12 from Gabriela Martinez. Numerous missed shots in and around the basket were a problem in the ballgame for the Lady Jays ( 0-2 ).
