The Director of the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council, John Seitz, has announced his intention to retire. He will step down from the post at the end of December.
Seitz made the announcement on the JC Now show on 1420 KJCK AM. “After seven-and-a-half plus years of doing this it’s time for me to have some fun, and not have to get up every morning, go welcome new soldiers and things like that. So I’m going to step down at the end of the year and let the Chamber find somebody else who can do my job. And I’m sure there are lots of people willing and able.”
Seitz plans to remain in Junction City after his retirement. He estimated during his stint as MAC Director he has welcomed about 300 soldiers per week to Fort Riley.
He has coordinated Military Affairs Council breakfasts, which have gone from attendance of about 60 people to more than 100.
