Brigade Use Big Seventh Inning to Seal Win

Rathert FIeld

The Junction City Brigade exploded for nine runs in the seventh inning and defeated the Baldwin City Blues 12-2 at Rathert Field Wednesday night. The game was called after the seventh inning due to a 10-run rule.

The Brigade got a big lift from three former Junction City Blue Jays in that final inning. Tim Bell hit a home run, Tre McDaniel had a single and Charlie Peyla singled as the Brigade went through their entire batting order. Head Coach Seth Wheeler stated the three players have been awesome to have around all year. ” Really good kids. Tre I kind of knew what I was getting from him, the two high school kids I didn’t know. You just never know with a high school kid. I’ve been extremely impressed with them all year, just their attitudes that they come basically ready to play every single day with a great attitude. ”

Earlier in the game first baseman Lane Fleming also hit a home run for Junction City in the second inning.

The Brigade ( 18-10 ) play at the Midwest Athletics on Thursday night. Right now Junction City trails the Topeka Golden Giants by one-half game in the western division of the Mid Plains League. The Golden Giants defeated the Midwest Veterans Wednesday night 12-6.
