
The Junction City High School girls track team captured the team title at the Kansas High School State Meet at the end of May.
The entire Lady Jay team was honored at the Board of Education meeting on June 5th.
Competing against other 6A schools, the Lady Jays team win came after a dramatic finish in the 4×400 meter relay to defeat Olathe Northwest.
Sophomore Keiana Newman earned three gold medals winning the 100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles and being part of the winning 4×100 meter relay.
Senior Amaya Booker captured third in the 100 meter dash, sixth in the 200 meter dash and was part of the championship 4×100 meter relay. Also scoring well for the Lady Jays was Lyric Holman with a 3rd place finish in the 100 and 200 meter dashes as well as 3rd in the 400 meter. Other medalists include Tiara Smith, Alana Kramer, Nashaia Nixon, Ayi-lissa Dotson and Shamya Banks.
