Lady Jays Fall to Manhattan

small-blue-jayThe Junction City Lady Jays dropped the opener of their softball doubleheader to Manhattan 14-0 on Tuesday at Cleary Field.

The game was called after five innings due to a 10-run rule.

In game two Manhattan overcame a 6-1 deficit going into the fourth inning to defeat Junction City 14-7.

Lady Jay Coach Aaron Craig said his team has gotten better through the season in being able to understand they are at that moment but need to learn how to finish. “At one point you have to kind of get that feeling and say we’ve go to get this. I really thought we had it in the second game. The girls came out, their intensity was better, their whole approach to everything was better.” Craig added the Lady Jays did some good things and took advantage of Manhattan mistakes. “And we were doing some good stuff. It just, it wasn’t to be for us.”

Junction City will now wait to learn their destination in a Class 6A Regional Tournament next week.
