“Soft Opening” for Carmike Town Center 13

movieCarmike Town Center 13 is open for business, well sort of.

The new state of the art IMAX theater inside the Manhattan Town Center Mall began a soft opening on Sunday, December 11th.

Jeff Sutton, Manhattan Town Center Marketing Manager, said that the soft opening will continue until Wednesday when the theater will close in preparation for it’s Grand Opening on Thursday, December 15th.

“Traditionally that’s a time when a time when a new store may open their doors unannounced and as word gets around traffic flows in – so I understand that Town Center 13 is currently in that phase…they are showing some second run movies, like from the summer, at a discounted rate,” said Sutton.

Carmike Cinemas Marketing Executives and Manhattan Town Center Executives and mall officials will participate in a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday at the new theater. A time has yet to be announced.

Sutton said the IMAX theater is a rare gem for Manhattan.  “This is an amazing new piece in Manhattan, because not only do we get to have a terrific new state of the art movie theater – and that includes everything from curved screens, to fully reclining seats, to being able to order food from your seats, the newest state of the art movie experience – but also, to be able to have an IMAX, it’ll be the third IMAX in the state of Kansas, so we’re joining the ranks of Wichita and Kansas City now to be able to have this amazing IMAX experience on a four story movie screen that seats 575 people.”

The theaters offers VIP seating where food and refreshments can be ordered from your seat, and standard seating. A full service bar is available to all patrons.

The Grand Opening of Carmike Town Center 13 will be Thursday, December 15th – a specific time has not yet been released but it will be in coordination with the the 7:00 pm IMAX showing of Rogue One, A Star Wars Story.

Carmike Town Center 13 is located inside Manhattan Town Center in the renovated space that previously housed Sears.

Manhattan Town Center will celebrate it’s 30th anniversary in October 2017.
