Coach Braden, “I was proud of all of our runners today. With the exception of the Lincoln course, the state meet in Wamego is the toughest course we run on each year. I felt like we competed well today as the boy’s team finished sixth out of all the 1A schools in the state. Senior Johnathan Bowen and freshman Dalton Murray again lead the Bombers while senior’s Cole Barber, Jordan Colglazier, and Kirk Iseli all ran excellent times for their last cross country race of their high school careers. Sophomore Kevin Jackson came in right behind Kirk Iseli to finish out his second year with a great run today as well. My four girls also ran well today on this very tough course. Senior Sierra Otto, juniors’ Ana Hughes and Mary Williams, as well as freshman Dakota Swader, all finished up their season with a solid run at the state meet. It was exciting for both the boys’ and girls’ teams to compete here at the state meet, finalizing a goal they set back in August.”
Coach Braden, “I would like to take a moment to acknowledge all of my senior runners. Cole Barber, Johnathan Bowen, Jordan Colglazier, Kirk Iseli, and Sierra Otto. Johnathan’s 7th place medal today was his third state medal in as many years. Three weeks ago, Johnathan set a new Wakefield school record in cross country, one that had been on the board for 21 years. It is safe to say he will definitely be missed next season. Cole, Jordan, Kirk, and Sierra, all made vast improvements in their cross country times year after year. This group of five seniors will be hard to replace! I am extremely proud of the commitment these athletes put into their sport over these past four years.”
