Fire Department Fire Department Personnel Honored

ryansA Junction City Fire Department medic unit responded on October 11,2015 to the home of Heather Ryan, Junction City.

The quick thinking and actions of Nick Blecha, Tyler Ross and Terry Bohannon are credited with helping save her life.

The three men were honored at the Tuesday night Junction City Commission meeting. Rick Rook, Interim Fire Chief, said when the firefighters responded Ryan was complaining of chest pain. She was diagnosed and placed on a flight to Topeka. “Heather Ryan survived this event and her being here tonight is nothing short of a miracle, or as one of the Lifestar ( helicopter ) crew members stated to me, the stars all aligned that day.”Rook added things could have developed differently that day, “had it not been for the people involved and the decisions made by paramedic Nick Blecha that allowed for the outcome of Heather’s medical emergency to be a positive one.”

The three EMT’s were presented plaques at the City Commission meeting, and received a big thank you from Shawn Ryan, Heather’s husband.
