Coach Braden, “It was great to see our kids step up to the plate and run great as a team today. Solomon had a great team and we had to run our best in order for us to have a chance at beating them, and all six boys did just that! We ended up with a first place finish in the league and all six boys ran personal best times! Leading the way was senior Johnathan Bowen. Johnathan’s time of 17:01 erased Wakefield’s school record by 10 seconds, a record that had been on the board for twenty years. I couldn’t have been more proud of him! For the girls, they finished in second place as a team and freshman Dakota Swader took the league forth place medal and lowered her own school record by a minute and a half. The girls, just like the boys, all had personal best performance times. It was just a great day to run and all of our kids competed at a high level.”
The Wakefield Bombers next meet is the 1A Regional. They will head east again 20 minutes to Leonardville on Saturday morning October 22nd for the 1A Regional Cross Country Meet.
