26th Annual Ice Cream Social at Geary County Museum

The Geary County Historical Society will host the 26th Annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday, September 18th.

The event features desserts, live music and of course – ice cream, with an ice cream and dessert sale featuring Call Hall ice cream from Kansas State University. There will also be homemade pies, cakes, cookies, popcorn, smoked sausages, pickles and soft drinks.

Live entertainment will play throughout the vent including Al Bowyer’s bluegrass and Appalachian ballads at 3:00 pm, the Junction City High School Jazz Band at 4:00 and the JCHS Orchestra from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.

Those attending will be able to participate in an old-fashioned cake walk at the cost of $1 for a chance to win a homemade dessert.

The event will be held at the Geary County museum located at 530 N. Adams Street in Junction City.

Museum Director Marilyn Heldstab started the Ice Cream Social in the early 1990s as a way to raiser funds for museum programs will entertaining Geary county residents.

The Ice Cream Social is Sunday, September 18th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, however the museum will be open and free to all visitors beginning at 1:00 pm.
