Rifle Range Road construction will not be complete prior to the start of the USD 475 2016/2017 school year as previously planned. The construction completion has now slipped to mid-September.
New road closings and detours are required to complete the project. Rifle Range Road will be closed from 1st Street to Look Out Drive, and from West Drive to Seitz Elementary to Thunder Road/Dakota Drive.
Detour to Fort Riley Elementary via Tank trail Purple: From the intersection of McCormick Road and Trooper Drive, turn left onto Trooper Drive (towards the commissary), Turn right on River Road, turn left at the first left (between the dog park and community garden), this will put you on Tank Trail Purple, travel over the levee and follow Tank Trail Purple to Rifle Range Road, turn right on Rifle Range Road and Fort Riley Elementary will be on your left.
Detour for local residential traffic and access to Fort Riley Elementary will use Macon Street, turn left on Lookout Drive, right onto Black Kettle Drive, Right onto Roustabout Road, left onto Thunder Road, and right onto Rifle Range Road. Traffic straight across Riffle Range Road will be allowed at Thunder Road/Dakota Drive, Arcadia Drive/Jenny Camp Drive, and Roustabout Road. Intermittent closures on Rifle Range Road will be necessary as construction progresses so please follow local traffic controls.
Detour to Seitz Elementary will use Macon Street and turn left on Lookout Drive to Rifle Range Road. Lookout Drive will only be open to local traffic and traffic to Seitz Elementary from Black Kettle Drive to Riffle Range Road. Riffle range road will have uneven pavements and limited road markings.
Please drive slow and carefully through the residential detours. Follow detour signage and daily local traffic controls. Expect delays and allow extra time to get to your destination.
