50th Annual USATF Junior Olympic Nationals

Six athletes from the local track club Track and Field United, left Junction City today for the 50th USATF Junior Olympic Nationals in Sacramento, CA.team 2

The meet runs from July 25th through 31st, with the six athletes competing on varied days.

In order to advance to the USATF Junior Olympic National meet, the athletes had to place in the top five in their respective events at the Regional meet held in Joplin, MO on July 9th through 11th.

All  of the 15 athletes from the small team advanced to the Regional meet with 10 competing and ultimately 7 advancing to Nationals.

The athletes competing in the 50th Annual USATF Junior Olympic National meet include:

  • Ninti Little, Fort Riley, 100m, 200m, long jump (15-16)
  • Morgan Little, Fort Riley, 100m, 200m, long jump (11-12)
  • Aaron Modrow, Chapman, 1500m (15-16)
  • Skyler Mitchell, Fort Riley, 3000m (11-12)
  • Tiara Smith, Fort Riley, 400m (15-16)
  • Clyde King Jr., Junction City, 400m, 200m (15-16)

DeMarcus Smith, 17, from Fort Riley,  also advanced  but is unable to attend.
