Coach Braden, “The Bombers had a very good day at Bennington. Several of our athletes had personal best throws and times today. For the boys: senior Zack Melius, who has been hampered with a hamstring pull, threw the javelin (for only the second time in his life), and took home the silver medal in that event! Junior J.J. Judy threw a personal best and took home the gold in the discus. Junior Brian VonHoltz threw a personal best in the shot put and took home the bronze. Sophomores Cody Pollman vaulted to a bronze medal in the pole vault and Jeffrey Thompson placed 6th in the 800 meter run with a very competitive effort. Freshman Kaleb White impressed us all with both his performances in the high jump and pole vault. For the girls: the 4 x 400 meter relay team of senior Joanna Wright, senior Sara Casaus, senior Dani Sanders, and junior Kenzy Barrett ran extremely well for their first relay of the season. Junior Sierra Otto competed very hard for her 6th place the 100 M. H. hurdles and freshman Sydney Barker surprised all of us with her sub three minute performance in the open 800. Friday was a beautiful day for a track meet and our performances were extremely encouraging since this was only our second meet of the season.
Next Friday the Bombers get up bright and early to travel to Wichita for the Shocker Pre-State Challenge. Ladd Braden
