An associate professor at the University of Kansas and film producer, Kevin Willmott, will serve as the guest speaker for the USD 475 2016 Celebration of Teaching banquet.

Willmott attended elementary and secondary schools in USD 475 before graduating from St. Xavier High School in 1976.

He is currently an Associate Professor Film and Media Studies in the School of the Arts at the University of Kansas. His first film, Ninth Street, told the story of a part of the local community through the eyes of those who lived here.

Other film credits include C.S.A. The Confederate States of America and Jayhawkers, among others. His most recent release is Chi-Raq ( 2015 ) which he has screen-written with Spike Lee, who also directs the movie.
