Thanksgiving could be challenging when it comes to the weather.
Following a webinar with the National Weather Service on Wednesday, the Emergency Management Director in Geary County, Garry Berges, explained expect mainly rain at first on Thursday. “During the daytime on Thanksgiving Day transitioning over to some sleet / freezing rain in the evening hours. From what I’ve been seeing after 3:30 or 4 ‘clock in the afternoon.”
The wintry weather is expected to continue through the weekend. “Every day there’s going some sort of moisture. One thing we’re looking at, that they alluded to, with the freezing rain we could get maybe up to a fourth to a half of freezing rain. They’re not talking wind so we shouldn’t have any widespread damage or power outages like we did many years ago.”
