**Hazardous Travel Conditions Expected for the Thanksgiving FileL (40)Holiday!!**
According to the National Weather Service of Topeka, areas of drizzle are expected across much of the area through the day on Wednesday, but more widespread rain showers are expected Wednesday night through Thanksgiving morning. Moderate to heavy rain will be possible at times, with accumulations upwards of 1-2 inches.
As a strong cold front surges through the region Thursday morning, expect temperatures to plunge toward the freezing mark which will result in rain transitioning to a mix of rain, freezing rain, and sleet across most of the outlook area. This transitioning precipitation will start as early as Thursday afternoon across north central Kansas and will extend eastward through the evening hours into Friday.
Most locations should see at least a glaze of ice accumulation, but some locations may see upwards of around one-quarter inch of ice, with some locally higher amounts possible. Any ice accumulations will have an impact on the holiday travel conditions, so make sure to stay tuned to the latest forecast updates!!
Today: Cloudy. Areas of drizzle through the day. Highs around 60. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.

Tonight: Cloudy. Chance of rain in the evening…then rain after midnight. Lows 44 to 50. South winds 5 to 10 mph shifting to the east after midnight. Chance of rain 90 percent.

Thanksgiving Day: Rain in the morning…then rain…possibly mixed with freezing rain in the afternoon. Ice accumulation of less than one quarter of an inch. Highs 45 to 51. North winds 5 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.

Thursday Night: Colder. Light freezing rain…possibly mixed with rain in the evening…then light freezing rain and sleet after midnight. Ice accumulation of up to one quarter of an inch. Lows in the upper 20s. North winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.

Friday: Colder. Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of light freezing rain…possibly mixed with snow and sleet. Near steady temperature in the upper 20s. North winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph.

Friday Night: Cloudy with a 30 percent chance of sleet… Possibly mixed with snow. Near steady temperature in the mid 20s.

Saturday: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of light freezing rain…possibly mixed with rain and sleet. Highs in the lower 30s.

Saturday Night: Cloudy. Chance of light freezing drizzle. Near steady temperature in the upper 20s. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with slight chance of rain and freezing drizzle. Highs in the upper 30s.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy. Chance of drizzle and freezing drizzle. Lows in the upper 20s. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain and snow. Highs in the lower 40s.
