Harvey Walker

Harvey Walker, 88 of Hope passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019.

He was born May 21, 1930 in Clayton, New Mexico, the son of DeWitt and Clora (Amos) Walker. He grew to manhood in the Clayton, New Mexico, attended the local schools and graduated from Clayton High School. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. On December 2, 1953 he was united in marriage to Glendyll Nikkel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They moved to Hope in 1973. She preceded him in death November 4, 1995. Harvey was a rancher/farmer and was a member of the Abilene Elks, Abilene Historical Society and KLA.

He is survived by three sons: Russell Walker of Nebraska; Randall Walker of Hope; Ronald Walker of Florida. Two daughters: Valerie Keller of Kansas City and Trudy Renner of Wichita. Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and special friend, Deanna Whitehair.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, wife Glendyll Walker and a grandson, Rusty Walker.

Funeral services for Harvey will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 20, 2019 at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Burial will follow at Ashton Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday, May 19 from 3-5 at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Hope. Friends may come by Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene from 9:00 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, May 17 to view and sign the register book. The family suggests memorials be given to the Abilene Historical Society or the Abilene Food Pantry. Memorials may be dropped off at 106 N. 2nd Hope, Kansas 67451.
