Junction City Qualifies Eight Girls, No Boys for State Track Meet

Eight members of the Junction City Lady Jay track team have qualified for the Class 6A blue jay logocompetition in the State Track Meet May 30 and 31 in Wichita.

Unfortunately for Junction City, none of the members of the Blue Jay boys track team qualified during the regional meet Friday in Lawrence.

The highest finish for the Blue Jay boys were fifth place finishes by Jeffrey Dorval in the 110 Meter Hurdles in 15.8, Ali Childs in the pole vault with a vault of 11’6, and the 4 x 100 relay team of Trey Mays, Jason Carter, Byrale Carter, and Jovan Baldwin in 44.7.  Only the top four finishers in each of the individual events advances to the state meet.

For the Lady Jays the state qualifiers included the 4 x 800 relay team of Myrissa Humphreys, Deisjambra Bisio, Bri Pace, and Rosie Hollis, who  captured first place in a time of 9:56.2, the 4 x 400 relay team of Humphreys, Bisio, Hollis, and Nashaia Nixon who finished second in 4:08.9, the 4 x 100 relay team of Samonte Jones, Raynell Wilson, Li’Minnie Garrison, and Nashaia Nixon who finished third in 50.5, and Deisjambro Bisio who ran the 400 meters in 1:01.7 to place fourth in that event.
