Two rock bands that had their roots in the 1980’s and 1990’s will serve as the headliners for Sundown Salute in Junction City this year.
Sharon Glessner, Sundown Salute Coordinator, says Warrant and Firehouse
will perform Saturday night July 5th for Sundown Salute.
Glessner says in addition to 80’s rock both groups are known for their love ballads. Warrant is known for “She’s my Cherry Pie” and Firehouse is known for “I Finally found the love of a life time.”
“A lot of hits that you will recognize from the 80’s, and they are still really relevant out there. They actually have a new album coming out, a joint album, here in 2015,” Glessner said.
Firehouse reached stardom during the early 1990’s with hit singles like “Don’t Treat Me Bad,” “Reach for the Sky,” and “All She Wrote,” as well as their signature ballads “I live My Life For You,” “Love of a Lifetime,” and “When I look Into Your Eyes.”
Firehouse has retained three or their four original members. Bassist Perry Richardson departed and Allen McKenzie currently fills that position.
Warrant experienced success with the single “Heaven,” reached number one in Rolling Stone and number two on the Billboard Hot 100. The band continued its success in the early 1990’s with the double platinum album “Cherry Pie.”
There are currently five members in the band but over the years there has been extensive turnover in this group. Tow of the performers date their band history back to 1984, bass guitar player Jerry Dixon and guitar player and back up vocal singer, Erik Turner.
