An accident involving a semi-truck on I-70 approximately 10 miles east of Junction City resulted in the transport of two people to area hospitals.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the driver, Courage Gbobo, 29, Orlando, Florida was transported by ambulance to Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. A passenger, Madouya Etienne Awidamanossi, 40, Gainesville, Georgia was transported by Lifestar helicopter to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
According to Geary County Emergency Management Director Garry Berges dispatch received the call about a semi on its’ side with people injured. Law enforcement authorities and emergency personnel responded to the scene. “There were two patients, one was outside the vehicle…the driver of the semi. The other patient had to be extricated from the vehicle. ”
The semi-truck was hauling freight. A wrecker company was sent to the scene of the accident so the semi could be uprighted.
I-70 traffic westbound was reduced to one lane for some time after the accident.
