Junction City led 28-16 but then had to hold off an Olathe North rally which cut the lead down to 30-26 at one point. Then a 3-point basket by Rains opened the margin up to seven points and Junction City moved on to get the victory.

Lady Jay coach Nate Parks said it was a good win.  Parks talked about the move by Junction City to pull away to the win after Olathe North had cut the margin down to four points. “One of the things that we’re trying to do is, again, learn how to finish games. And I’m trying to teach the girls that we need to have good solid possessions, and a lot of times they think that means stall, and that’s not what I’m trying to do at all. I’m trying to make sure that we’re being efficient and that we’re looking for our shots. ” Parks added his team worked on that, and he felt did a good job.

Junction City boys and girls basketball teams will host Shawnee Heights Friday night at the Shenk Gym. The girls game broadcast on KJCK AM, The Talk of JC, will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the boys contest.
