KSU President Spoke in Junction City

The guest speaker at this years Boy Scouts of America friends of scouting kickoff breakfast was Dr. Kirk Schulz, KSU President.

Schulz has been involved in scouts since an early age and shared that he learned a lot in the scouts that continues to help him to this day.

He explained that he still goes back to the leadership skills that he learned when he was his troops patrol leader.

“You figured out some stuff that worked and you figured out some things that didn’t work,” Schulz said. “If I go back, a lot of the leadership things that we try and do today as a part of the senior leadership team at Kansas State really can be traced back to boy scouts.”

Schulz is an Eagle Scout and the former president of the Coronado Area Council Executive Board.

Friday mornings breakfast was the annual kickoff to the scouts fundraising campaign. As of Friday morning 52 percent of their $17,500 goal had been raised.
