The men of Lyona United Methodist Church will celebrate their 70th annual Ground Hog Supper
Monday evening at the church fellowship hall, located 14 miles southwest of Junction City on Lyons Creek / Wolf Rod.
Serving will begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue through the evening.
This annual event typically attracts several hundred people from the area. The first Ground Hog Supper was organized in 1945 by Reverend Cecil Ziegler for the men of the church as a social gathering for their friends in the surrounding towns and communities.
Twelve hundred pounds of sausage will be served, along with waffles, pancakes, and homemade ice cream.
