Approximately 150 Saint Xavier Catholic School students gathered in the school’s Bradley Gym

on Wednesday for a patriotic pep rally featuring performances by members of the 1st Infantry Division Band,and comments by other soldiers and Junction City Vice Mayor Pat Landes.

Landes stated he tried to talk to the students about how the City Commission works. “Not only the fundamental things. We have five commissioners and so on, but what it takes to be a commissioner. I thing you need to have an open mind, and be able to listen to all sides of an issue before you make up your own mind, which is something we have to really discipline ourselves about.”

The pep rally was part of national Catholic Schools Week activities at Saint Xavier.  Other activities have ranged from celebrating the community to an all school mass. Students in Pre-K through 12th grade attended the pep rally on Wednesday.
