9:30 a.m. The Great Bend Police Department has released the names of the three people shot Wednesday night in Great Bend. According to GBPD, 23-year old Hope Huslig of Great Bend was transported to a Wichita Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 30-year old Larry Norman was treated and released from Great Bend Regional Hospital along with 20-year old Saedra Walters of Larned.
Police Chief Dean Aikings says it appears that all three were injured as the result of a shot gun blast from a suspect that remains at large. Huslig was shot in the chest area while Norman and Walters were injured by shot gun pellets. Aikings emphasizes that this was not a random shooting and was an isolated incident. Police believe the victims knew their attacker. Aikings says a search warrant was executed last night at an unnamed location but no arrests have been made.
5 a.m. Great Bend police continue to search for a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting Wednesday night in Great Bend.
According to the Great Bend Police Department, the incident took place just after 8 p.m. in the 1400 block of second street.
Police Chief Dean Aikings says two females and one male were shot. One of the women has critical injuries. Two victims were transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital while a third victim was transported to Wichita. According to GBPD, one of the victims was show in the chest with a handgun while the other two individuals were struck by pellets.
According to Aikings, the victims likely knew who their attacker was and police continue to search for the suspect.
