The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter storm warning in effect from 6 a.m.
Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. It includes Geary County, plus Riley, Pottawatomie, Wabaunsee Dickinson, and Morris Counties in east central Kansas, and Nemaha, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Shawnee, and Douglas Counties.
A mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow is likely Saturday with snow becoming more persistent Saturday night.
Total snow and ice accumulations that are possible include a band of four to seven inches of snow, along with locally up to a half inch of sleet Saturday and Saturday night. Minor ice accumulation is possible along the I-70 corridor with up to two-tenths of an inch of ice near and south of Interstate 35.
Winds will increase from the north on Saturday night, with occasional gusts up to 20 miles per hour.
