Due to busy schedules this time of year a meeting between Junction City officials and Fort Riley officials to discuss the support of a casino in Junction City will have to wait until after the holidays.
Smith asked the City Commission to table a resolution in support of a casino

project in Junction City during the November 19th meeting. Smith said that he felt it would be appropriate to hold off on the resolution until he had the opportunity to discuss the proposed project with officials at Fort Riley.
Gerald Smith, Junction City Manager, said that he has contacted officials at Fort Riley,”They are looking forward to having a sit down with the City, myself and the Mayor, to have a conversation about adopting it.”
Smith hopes to be able to have the meeting sometime after the holidays and then be able to present the resolution to the Commission at their earliest possible meeting.
The Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors did already approve a motion to endorse a casino resolution during their November 19th meeting.
State Representative Allan Rothlisberg has introduced legislation that would have Geary County designated as the site for a future state-owned casino. He expects to obtain a hearing on that bill before a Kansas House committee in February.
