Junction City High School did not qualify a full team, but three members of the Lady Jay cross country team are headed to the state meet. Deisjambra Bisio finished 10th, Vicky Ibarra 13th, and Rosie Hollis 14th at the Class 6A regional meet hosted by Junction City at Milford State park.
Bisio turned in a time of 16:00.66, Ibarra 16:18.59, and Hollis 16:20.69. Emily Venters of Lawrence Free State finished first with a clocking of 14:43.63.

Bisio said because it was the regional meet she was nervous entering the race. “I knew that the first mile would be everyone packed together, and then the second mile would be really hard. But as you’re running you have to think you can do it, you can do it. It was hard for me, but I just kept thinking in my mind I can do it.”
No one from the Blue Jay boys team qualified for state. Nick Arneson of Junction City led the Blue Jays with a 28th place finish in 17:53.94. Stephen Deveau was 29th 17:55.64. Chris Melgares of Manhattan finished first in 16:08.18.
In the girls team competition Lawrence Free State won the title with the low score of 32 points, followed by Maize with 68, and Manhattan with 70. Junction City was fourth with 83 points. In the boys team competition Manhattan captured first place with the low score of 17 points followed by Wichita North with 71, and Lawrence Free State with 81 points. Junction City finished 6th out of 8 teams, with their score of 162 points.
